Frequently Asked Questions...Here are some common questions you want answers to:What should I do if there's an emergency at home and the surgery is closed? You can still phone the surgery after hours. Call 0844 477 8629. A recorded message will give you the option to use an emergency service provided by South East Health. Can I cancel an appointment out of hours? It is possible to cancel an appointment when the surgery is closed. By phoning the surgery on the usual telephone number 0844 477 8629 a recorded message will give you the option to cancel an appointment.Do I have to see my own Doctor? The partners have personal patient lists so you will be seen by your registered GP wherever possible. However, in the event of an emergency, if your doctor is not available, you will be offered an appointment with another GP. If you wish to be seen by a same sex Doctor for a particular problem this will be arranged if it is possible to do so.How do I get a sick certificate? If a sick certificate is required it is sometimes possible to obtain one without making an appointment with the doctor. For the first three days of sickness a certificate is not required. Between days four and seven of sickness a self certification form (SC2) is to be used. These are available from Reception. After day seven of sickness a doctor's certificate may be obtained. If the doctor is aware of the sickness for example if you have been previously seen by the doctor, if it is an ongoing condition, or if you have received hospital treatment, you may request a certificate without seeing the doctor. If a certificate is required before day seven of an illness the doctor may issue a private certificate for which there will be a charge. If none of the above circumstances apply you should make an appointment to see your doctor. |
